• Intel Pentium III (1000 MHz) or greater
• 512 MB RAM or more

• Internet Explorer 6 SP2 or higher

Installation on Windows

Standard installation

1. Login as administrator
2. Start Internet Explorer and enter http://www.discoverygate.com
3. If applicable, activate "always trust" in the window "Security Warning" and continue with button "Execute"
4. Applications Update is run (confirm with "OK"; works only with administrator rights)
   
5. Quit Internet Explorer and start again; open http://www.discoverygate.com
6. Click tab "Download Software"; download DiscoveryGate25.exe from page "Software Download Center"
7. Quit Internet Explorer
8. Run DiscoveryGate25.exe
9. Start Internet Explorer and open http://www.discoverygate.com
10. Click "Search Databases" (in the middle of the window below Quick Search/Applications)
11. If popup windows are blocked you have to allow them for DiscoveryGate: "Always Allow Popups from this Site
    (If applicable also a Windows Security Alert appears: Unblock)
12. The Symyx Database Browser opens in a new window (downloading of Java applets may require some time)

Extended Installation

With this information you can configure additional software which can be used from DiscoveryGate to start searches. As an example we show the installation of Hop-Into in CrossFire Commander

1. Login as administrator
2. Start Internet Explorer and enter http://www.discoverygate.com
3. If applicable, activate "always trust" in the window "Security Warning" and continue with button "Execute"
4. Applications Update is run (confirm with "OK"; works only with administrator rights)
   
5. Quit Internet Explorer and start again; open http://www.discoverygate.com
6. Click tab "Download Software"; download DiscoveryGate25.exe from page "Software Download Center"
7. Quit Internet Explorer
8. Run DiscoveryGate25.exe
9. Choose Start > Programms > DiscoveryGate > Hop-Into Configuration tool
10. Choose Manual Configuration, then press button Next
11. Select "Add New Hop-Into Configuration", then button Next
12. Choose "Other Windows Application", then buttton Next
13. Enter "CrossFire Commander" into the application field
14. In the window "Select the Windows application (.exe)", navigate to Programm Files > CrossFire Commander 7.1, then select "XfCm"
15. Set a tick mark at checkbox "Allows rxn search using Classification codes", then button Next
16. Scroll to the bottom and tick checkboxes XFG: CrossFire Gmelin and XFRAE: CrossFire Beilstein, then button Next
17. Confirm with button next
18. You are again at the window where you can select the configuration. Exit the configuration tool using button Cance
19. Start Internet Explorer and open http://www.discoverygate.com
20. Click "Search Databases" (in the middle of the window below Quick Search/Applications)
21. If popup windows are blocked you have to allow them for DiscoveryGate: "Always Allow Popups from this Site
    (If applicable also a Windows Security Alert appears: Unblock)
22. The Symyx Database Browser opens in a new window (downloading of Java applets may require some time)
23. For testing, carry out a structure search. Tickmark a structure in the results display, then click link "View selected records in another database"
24. Continue with button OK in the window "View in another database"
25. If Hop-Into was configured correctly, an entry "CrossFire Commander" should appear in the Window "Select Applications". Choose this entry and continue with button OK
26. CrossFire Commander is starting. After login, the chosen structure is being searched.
