Troubleshooting

Windows

In contrast to CrossFire, SciFinder Scholar or Web of Science, CA on CD and CASSI are not client-server systems. They are based on file sharing with a Windows server, where all the databases and the software are stored. Due to the new network structure at the ETH (NETng) and eventually to the security settings of the local computers , the required file sharing may lead to problems.

If the CA on CD program does not function on your computer, we suggest you take the following measures:

  1. Re-run the update of the license driver: Start-Menu - "Ausführen/Run": execute
    \\129.132.126.43\ca\Hasp\haspdinst.exe -i
  2. Check the firewall settings of your computer, or shut down the firewall for a short test.
    A typical firewall problem is the error message "Cannot communicate with HASP Key".
  3. Create a manual file share to \\129.132.126.43\CA with the username ChemAbs1 and password Test98
  4. After establishing the file share, start the program CA on CD once again on your computer.
  5. If it would still not be possible to solve the problem by taking the above measures, then please contact the .

You may be using Mac OS X 10.2 or older: only OS X 10.3 and 10.4 are supported.
